Everton fans protest outside training ground after the club sign zero players in January

Everton fans were pictured protesting outside Finch Farm as the January transfer deadline day rolled over with the club making zero signings.

The Toffees failed to secure any new players despite the arrival of Sean Dyche to replace Frank Lampard in the dugout.

The Merseyside team currently sit at 19th position on the Premier League and are at serious risk of relegation.

And their supporters seem to be over it.

Fans travelled to their training ground to protest the club’s owner Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright and call for their resignations.

Flags could be seen reading ‘Kenwright out’ and ‘This is our club, not yours. It’s time to go’.

Meanwhile, one flag depicted the images of Moshiri, Kenwright, and CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale with the word ‘LIARS’ written over it.

Everton lost one of their key players and homegrown stars, Anthony Gordon, to Newcastle earlier in the month for a reported fee of £45 million (A$78m).

And yet none of that fee was reinvested to the club.

However, that wasn’t for the lack of trying.

Sean Dyche came in with a list of transfer targets that he believed would help Everton stay in the Premier League.

Within 30 minutes of Dyche's official appointment, Everton had made a £45 million bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. Dyche viewed the 22-year-old as an ideal signing to kick off a new era on Merseyside.

What he didn't bank on was Gallagher's refusal to swap Chelsea for Everton.

And it got worse on deadline day.

Andre Ayew, Ismaila Sarr and Olivier Giroud were all linked with a move to Everton but none came to fruition.

Meanwhile, Moshiri had insisted he had no intention of selling the club and had called on the fans to back their team.

He said, via Express: "The fans are the most important part of the Everton institution. We need to go through this together - only we can go through this together. Everton has been dependent on Goodison and the twelfth man.

“I know that we are much the weaker without the full-hearted support of the fans and I will do whatever it takes to get the fans on board. I'm on it 24 hours a day."

But it’s fair to say fans online weren’t in the mood to back the board either.

One wrote: “Genuinely criminal that Everton went into the January Window in the situation they are in and signed zero players.”

Another said: “Everton not backing their brand new manager with any form of new signing, especially in the position they’re in, after making £40m through a sale is absolutely disgusting.”

A third added: “I’ve really got to feel for Everton fans tonight. The club took an age to appoint S Dyche then don’t give him one single player in this window to help him keep the club up.”
