Erling Haaland named joint-most valuable player in the world with astronomical transfer value

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been named the joint-most valuable player in the world alongside Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been named the joint-world's highest value footballer as his record-breaking maiden season at the Etihad edges closer to its conclusion.

The Norwegian joined City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer for a reported £51million and has broken numerous records since, with the 22-year-old's current goals tally for the campaign sitting at 51 goals in 47 matches across all competitions.

Most recently, the striker broke the record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League campaign when netting his 35th league strike in a 3-0 victory over West Ham United.

Although Haaland is yet to secure any silverware with City this term, Pep Guardiola's side could end the season by winning a treble with the Cityzens on course of a third consecutive Premier League title, in the FA Cup final and level on aggregate with Real Madrid in their Champions League semi-final going into Wednesday's home leg.

It's been a season to remember for the Norway international who, as a result of his miraculous efforts, has seen his transfer valuation rise significantly.

The CIES Football Observatory pulls together data from over 1,000 clubs within 74 leagues across the world to estimate an individual player's transfer value, based on form and time remaining on their current contract. According to their research, Haaland is estimated to be worth the world's highest value at £175million (€200million) alongside Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr.

As well as red-hot form, a major contributing factor to the striker's estimated value will be the fact that his contract doesn't expire for another four years with the 22-year-old contracted to City until June 2027.

The duo are closely followed in the value table by Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe, Barcelona's Pedri and Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala who are all valued at £131million (€150million).

Haaland and Vinicius Jr. faced off on the football pitch on Tuesday as City managed to secure a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final with the latter impressing more with an excellent strike to give the hosts the lead.

However, the former will have the opportunity to write his name further in Manchester City folklore if he can help guide Guardiola's men to their second Champions League final with the Cityzens still yet to win Europe's elite competition.
