Thomas Tuchel could be given a headache ahead of his first England squad as two of the most nation's most promising prospects are eligible to play for different countries.

After being appointed as permanent successor to Gareth Southgate in October following Lee Carsley's interim stint, Tuchel officially started his reign on January 1 and has been in contact with many of the current players.

The German's first games in charge of England are in March when they take on Abania and Latvia at Wembley, with Tuchel having a huge pool of players to choose from.

But a number of new stars could be in contention after enjoying breakout campaigns, specifically Arsenal pair Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The pair, aged 17 and 18 respectively, have both made huge impressions for Mikel Arteta's side this season, seamlessly slotting into the Gunners side in big games and making massive contributions.

Both scored fine goals in the 5-1 thrashing of champions Manchester City at the Emirates earlier this month and have racked up 47 appearances between them this season.

The pair have represented England at various youth levels, with Nwaneri playing at the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and Lewis-Skelly stepping up to the Under 19's in September.

However, both are still eligible to play for other nations because of their family links. Nwaneri is eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents, while left-back Lewis-Skelly has heritage in Barbados and could still potentially play for the Caribbean outfit.

If they were to be called up to the next squad and featured in the World Cup qualifiers next month, neither would be able to switch international allegiance from that point onwards.

Tuchel has special arrangement as England manager

Though he has been seen at some games, including some Champions League games abroad, it's emerged that Tuchel is being allowed to spend plenty of time being back with his family.

According to The Times, Tuchel has an agreement with the FA to essentially work from home but has now missed three rounds of Premier League fixtures and the entire set of fixtures in the FA Cup third round stage.

Tuchel has an 18-month contract and is said to be earning around £5 million per year.
