Piers Morgan obviously stands up for Cristiano Ronaldo and claims he's been disrespected

The rest of the world was criticising Ronaldo for walking off whilst Man Utd were playing, but the striker's PR machine stood up for him.

Cristiano Ronaldo's white knight has come to his aid, with Piers Morgan predictably defending the Manchester United forward's walkout during the Tottenham Hotspur game.

United fans should really be basking in the glory of toppling another 'big six' rival, having already beaten Arsenal and Liverpool this season, following their game with Spurs on Wednesday.

Fred and Bruno Fernandes were the goalscorers, as Erik ten Hag's side dominated most of the 90 minutes against Spurs, with Lisandro Martinez's pocketing of Harry Kane and Casemiro's performance among the highlights for United.

However, instead of the game itself, a lot of the focus is on Ronaldo, and his decision to leave the bench, walk down the tunnel and leave Old Trafford, all before the final whistle.

Having been unhappy at being subbed off during the draw with Newcastle at the weekend, this time the 37-year-old was unhappy at not being subbed on.

Erik ten Hag decided to bring on Anthony Elanga and Christian Eriksen in the 87th minute and that was enough for Ronaldo to head on out.

Some did blame the manager for making the five time Ballon d'Or winner warm up without using him, but generally speaking the forward has been panned for his reaction.

That is until Morgan came along, the broadcaster who loves to paint himself as the former Juventus forward's mate claiming that Erik ten Hag was 'disrespecting' the player.

"The way Ten Hag seems to delight in humiliating Cristiano is pathetic," Morgan said on social media.

"Sticking the world’s greatest ever footballer on the bench, making him repeatedly warm up, then not even use him as a sub, is just staggeringly disrespectful to United’s top scorer last season."

The 57-year-old is absolutely blinded by his love of the former Real Madrid striker, as are the player's many fanboys on social media in fairness.

It's not the first time in recent months that the disgraced former editor of the Daily Mail has waded in on Ronaldo's situation at Old Trafford.

In the summer, with the forward clearly wanting to move on from United, Morgan attempted to get him to ditch his 'arrogant' teammates and join Arsenal.

The Gunners fan then claimed that Ten Hag dropping Ronaldo for the game against Liverpool was one of the 'dumbest decisions in football history,' before United went on to win the game.

In his post match press conference, Ten Hag briefly addressed the incident, saying, "I don't pay attention to that, I will deal with that tomorrow. I want to keep the focus on the team.

"It was magnificent from all 11 players. I have to correct myself. It was also a performance from the substitutes who came on. Once again, it was a squad performance. I think what we have seen is 11 players who defend and 11 who attack. I was pleased."

United next face Chelsea on Saturday, it seems unlikely that Ronaldo will start, unfortunately for Morgan...
