Fan predicts Chelsea will hold unwanted title by the end of the season

Chelsea's season could go from bad to worse.

A Chelsea fan has predicted the club will win a title at the end of the season - but not one that anybody wants.

It would be an understatement to say that Chelsea's season has been a shambles.

When Todd Boehly bought the club early last summer and spent £300m on new players before the start of the season, many supporters had their sights set on challenging for the Premier League title and Champions League.

Fast forward eight months - plus another £300m splurge in the January transfer window - and Chelsea find themselves 11th in the Premier League table and on the verge of elimination from the Champions League.

Boehly has so far entrusted three managers with the day-to-day running of his team; Thomas Tuchel was replaced by Graham Potter after a poor start to the campaign, but the Englishman lasted just six months before he was dismissed.

Frank Lampard has come in as interim boss until the end of the season, but has overseen defeats to Wolves, Real Madrid and Brighton in his three matches in charge.

Saturday's 2-1 loss at home to Brighton - a scoreline that flatters Chelsea - leaves the London side with 39 points from 31 games.

Remarkably, Lampard's side are closer to the relegation zone (12 points) than they are to the top four (17 points).

Realistically, Chelsea can't hope to finish any higher than 7th, but even that would be a push.

Now, one fed-up supporter has pointed out that if Chelsea aren't careful, they could actually finish the season as the worst Premier League team in London.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Brentford and Fulham are all above Chelsea in the table, with Crystal Palace and West Ham below them.

Palace are only three points behind their wealthy rivals though, and have won three consecutive games since Roy Hodgson was re-appointed manager.

West Ham are nine points behind Chelsea and are involved in the relegation scrap, but David Moyes' side have two games in hand on Lampard's.

Chelsea's last seven league fixtures include tricky trips to Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as a final-day clash with Champions League-chasing Newcastle.

If Lampard can't coax some good performances out of his side soon then there's every chance Chelsea could finish the season as the worst Premier League team in London.
