Chelsea want to sell 15 first-team players this summer, they think they can raise £280 million doing it

Mauricio Pochettino started the culling process at Chelsea by telling Joao Felix he wasn't needed at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's huge squad is set to be trimmed down by Mauricio Pochettino having identified 15 players he wishes to get rid of this summer.

Things at Stamford Bridge went completely wrong for Chelsea this season as they crashed to new lows of their modern era by finishing 12th in the Premier League.

It's their lowest league finish since 1994 and they seemed hell bent on stumbling into as many embarrassing moments as possible despite spending around £600 million on transfers throughout the year.

They made so many signings without selling enough players that some were even forced to change outside of the dressing room because there wasn't enough space for everyone.

With the dismal campaign now over for the side from west London they can start preparing for the next one. That all started this week when they finally announced Pochettino as their new manager.

They haven't had a permanent manager since Graham Potter was sacked in April as Frank Lampard took over as interim for the end of the season.

The new manager has already made his first big decision, telling Joao Felix that he isn't wanted on a permanent deal after arriving from Atletico Madrid on loan in January.

According to the Daily Mail there is a total of 15 players that they're hoping to trim from the squad this summer and they want to make £280 million from them.

Mason Mount is the player that the club hope to earn the most from with the midfielder expected to earn £75 million by his current club.

The England star only has one year left on his deal and would be pure profit having come through the academy system, with Manchester United heavily linked with the 24-year-old.

Conor Gallagher who impressed on loan for Crystal Palace last season but has failed to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge consistently is worth £40 million according to Todd Boehly's team.

Fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic is another who is available, with Manchester City supposedly wanting the Croatian, who the Blues want £35 million for.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, defender Trevoh Chalobah, midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, apparently wanted by AC Milan, and forward Christian Pulisic can be bought for £25 million.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, who once heavily attracted interest from Bayern Munich, can be got for just £10 million with Nottingham Forest reportedly interested.

Cesar Azpilicueta can be picked up for the measly price of only £5 million whilst N'Golo Kante looks set to leave for free, with his contract expiring, whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will also be allowed to leave for nothing.

As well as Felix returning to Atletico Madrid, fellow loanee Denis Zakaria will be heading back to Juventus following his temporary move whilst Kalidou Koulibaly could be following him to Turin on a loan deal.

It would certainly be a hell of an undertaking by the club to get rid of all 15 but if they did make that much money it would end up being over £20 million in profit for what they paid for all those players, and allow Pochettino to invest in his own signings.
