Manchester City and Liverpool could be drawn in a Champions League 'group of death' in Thursday's official UEFA ceremony.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp await their fate as the Champions League group stage draw takes place in Istanbul, Turkey.

Man City are in Pot 1 after winning the Premier League last season while Liverpool are in Pot 2 after finishing in second place in the table.

That means Guardiola's side will avoid the likes of holders Real Madrid, German champions Bayern Munich and French title holders Paris Saint-Germain.

But the Blues could still get Barcelona, who are in Pot 2, Inter Milan, who are in Pot 3, as well as Celtic, who are in Pot 4 - which would make for a 'group of death' scenario.

Barca return to the Champions League having snapped up the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha this summer, while Inter Milan could pose a big threat.

And Celtic are back in the big time, which means teams are in for a hostile reception when visiting Celtic Park.

As for Klopp's team, they could be grouped with last season's winners Real Madrid and, like their Premier League rivals, Inter Milan and Celtic.

The Spanish giants boast two wins over Liverpool in recent years, having beaten them in 2018 and 2022 Champions League final.

Guardiola and Klopp don't have long to wait to find out their group for this season's Champions League.
