Casemiro couldn't hold back tears as he said goodbye to Real Madrid during an incredibly emotional press conference at the Bernabeu on Monday morning.

The Brazilian midfielder will be presented as a Manchester United player ahead of tonight's clash against Liverpool, after the Premier League outfit agreed a £70 million deal with Real Madrid for his signature.

The 30-year-old will reportedly wear the number 18 shirt at Old Trafford and is expected to make his long-awaited debut on Saturday, when United face Southampton at St. Mary's.

But before taking a flight to Manchester to join up with his new teammates, Casemiro said goodbye to Carlo Ancelotti, Florentino Perez and his Los Blancos family at a press conference.

The 30-year-old was joined by his own family and the 18 trophies he lifted during an incredible nine-year stay in Madrid.

In fact, during the emotional event, Casemiro was in tears as he watched some of his personal highlights from a trophy-laden spell with the European champions. Who is cutting onions in here?

As translated by Twitter account Madrid Xtra, the Brazilian said: "Good morning everyone. When me and my wife arrived here no one knew us. It was a new country and here we built our life and our family.

“I remember when I first received the Real Madrid call, I was so excited. When I left Brazil I knew I would have played at Castilla, I was very excited because I knew I would have learnt the values of this club.

"I won a lot of titles but the biggest title is when I came here to train every day."

He added: "I want to thanks everyone, my mother, my wife, this club, all the players and teammates. Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos... I can't forget them. We won a lot together.

"I'm sure one day I'll come back. I want to give back all the love they gave me. I am excited to develop at a big club like Manchester United."

Plenty of people have had their say about Casemiro's arrival, including Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, who believes Manchester United's latest signing will adapt quickly to life in England's top flight.

"I played with him in Real Madrid's second team and with the national team," Fabinho added. "He is a friend, we always have conversations and he is a good guy.

“Of course, he will be a good signing. Casemiro is a smart guy, he is a good player, he is strong, he is good in the air, so it will not be hard for him to adapt to the Premier League.”
