Jamie Carragher trolled Peter Schmeichel ahead of the Champions League action.

Jamie Carragher ruthlessly trolled Peter Schmeichel over Manchester United's humiliating 7-0 defeat to Liverpool ahead of tonight's Champions League fixtures.

Carragher has resumed his punditry duties after providing commentary and analysis for Liverpool vs. Man United last Sunday.

He's on air for CBS Sports for the Champions League action, which includes Chelsea vs. Borussia Dortmund.

And he hilariously tormented former Man United goalkeeper Schmeichel, who is at Stamford Bridge.

The Liverpool legend asked the Dane several questions about this week's European action as he kept emphasising the number 7 - of course, a reference to the score-line at Anfield.

He spoke about the date (March 7), the seven-figure transfer fee Jude Bellingham could command and the seven-time European winners AC Milan, before having a drink from a can of 7up.

Carragher was in dreamland as his old side smashed Erik ten Hag's team to record their biggest win over their arch rivals.

And he believes the 7-0 drubbing has boosted their top-four hopes.

Speaking after the game, he said: "When you see Liverpool put in a performance like that it makes you feel, 'How has it been that bad for a lot of the season?'

"When you win by a shock score-line it almost knocks a bit of the celebration because Manchester United become the story more."

Carragher added: "Klopp didn't fist pump the Kop as you'd expect because, I think, of the score-line and it feels like you're rubbing it in.

"It gives Liverpool a huge boost in terms of getting in the top four. It's really important in terms of what they could do in the summer financially and maybe a player they could bring in. There's a lot of talk of Jude Bellingham and lots of clubs going for him."

The 45-year-old continued by highlighting the key league games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

"I still can't believe the games Liverpool have lost, the performances they've put in, they've still got a great chance of making the top four," he explained.

"There's still a long way to go but Liverpool at Bournemouth next week is a game you expect them to win. After that they've got a really tough week.

"City, Chelsea, Arsenal determines whether Liverpool make the top four or not."
