Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher's contrasting and hilarious reactions to Liverpool goals vs Man United

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher's contrasting and hilarious reactions to Liverpool goals vs Man United

Liverpool stunned Man United with a 7-0 victory at Anfield that nobody saw coming

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher gave just the reactions you would expect to each of Liverpool's seven goals against Manchester United.

Liverpool, having been held until the 43rd minute at Anfield, ran riot with six second half goals, to completely stun a bedraggled United side.

Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah all scored two apiece, with Roberto Firmino rounding off the scorline on a perfect day for Jurgen Klopp's side.

And what a day for the Sky Sports producers to have chosen to bring back 'commentator cam', capturing the reactions of former United and Liverpool greats Neville and Carragher with a camera focussed on the gantry.

As expected, Carragher delights in each of Liverpool's goals, with Neville shaking his head in disbelief as the winning margin grew for Klopp's men over the course of the second half.

After the seventh goal, TV viewers could even hear Carragher laughing manically in the background. At one stage, Neville bluntly told his Sky colleague to "do one", the ex United captain briefly losing the impartiality that he so desperately tries to uphold while commentating.

The defeat will take some time to sink in for both sets of fans. It's been a disappointing season for Liverpool so far but this may breathe new life into their top four hopes, while United are now some distance behind top two Arsenal and Manchester City.

It's been an encouraging campaign for Erik ten Hag – his first in the job at United – but the Dutchman now has a huge task to lift his players after a listless performance at Anfield.
