Fans slam Man United's time-wasting against Liverpool, they bring up Erik ten Hag's quotes about Newcastle

Manchester United have been accused of time-wasting against Liverpool.

Fans online have criticised Manchester United's time-wasting against Liverpool in the first-half, with some Newcastle United supporters referencing Erik ten Hag's quotes about their side ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

Man United took their time over goal kicks and corners while killing some time during the match, with Jamie Carragher pointing it out on commentary.

The time-wasting didn't go unnoticed among people on social media as they hit out at Ten Hag's tactics in the first half.

One Twitter user wrote: "Man United are actually embarrassing wasting time in the first 20 mins."

A second tweeted: "That’s not Man United time wasting is it?"

A third added: "Man United wasting time? 20 mins?"

A Newcastle United fans said: "Man United time wasting didn’t they moan about us doing that before the cup final."

Man United time-wasting against Liverpool comes after Ten Hag described Newcastle as 'annoying' ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

He warned his players and the match officials about their tactics.

"I think it’s a great team with a clear philosophy about how they want to play the game," he said. "The key word is intensity. They do really well. They’re an annoying team to play against, so we have to find a way to win.

"They try to annoy you. We have to make sure that we play our game and we focus on our game."
