Germany’s media have come to a verdict on Jobe Bellingham after he finally registered his first goal contribution for the Bundesliga side.
Jobe, 20, started in Dortmund’s 4-2 Champions League league phase win against Copenhagen in Denmark on Tuesday evening.
Felix Nmecha’s brace alongside strikes from Ramy Bensebaini and former Wolves man Fabio Silva secured all three points for Nico Kovac’s side, who sit fourth in the 36-team group on seven points after three matches.
Nmecha was the star of the show, but Jobe no doubt left Parken with a smile on his face after setting up the German international’s first strike on 20 minutes, and in doing so registered his first goal contribution for Dortmund since his £27million transfer from Sunderland in the summer.

On 87 minutes, Jobe also provided the assist for Silva’s strike on a pleasing evening for the away side.

And it’s fair to say, the Birmingham City academy graduate has enjoyed a tough start to life in North Rhine-Westphalia.
In his ten previous appearances before last night, he did not register a single goal involvement and appeared to be behind Marcel Sabitzer and Pascal Groß in the midfield pecking order.

Previous reports have even suggested that Jobe’s father, Mark, had been banned from the side’s dressing room after a disagreement with the sporting director, Sebastian Kehl.
Another report from the Mail claimed that ‘family issues’ were having an impact on the young Englishman, although this has not been confirmed by the player or his representatives.
But what did Germany’s biggest media outlets say after Jobe’s most recent showing?
Harshly, Sport 1 issued Jobe a 2.5/5 rating, writing: “Clearly on the up! He made his unfortunate move from the weekend a thing of the past in the first half: He set up Nmecha’s opening goal (20′) – the youngster’s first goal involvement for BVB this season. He tried not to make any mistakes, without taking any major risks.

“He subsequently became increasingly bolder, even taking a shot from distance (74′). He also fired from distance before Silva made it 4-1, so the assist also belongs to him. Overall, a very decent performance.”
Meanwhile, Spox gave him a 3/5 rating, the outlet explained: “He got off to a good start in just his fourth start of the season and set up Nmecha’s goal.
“The equalizer brought back memories of the Bayern game at the weekend, as the young Englishman didn’t clear the ball consistently and headed it straight into Moukoko’s feet.
“He also could have had a few more creative moments. He also added a decent long-range finish in the 73rd minute and put in a great effort before the 4-1. All in all, a step in the right direction.”
