Bayern Munich's OWN player scores against them in crushing 3-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen

Bayern Munich's OWN player scores against them in crushing 3-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen beat Bayern Munich 3-on in their top of the table Bundesliga clash.

Bayern Munich's OWN player scored against them as they suffered a crushing defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga following their massive 3-0 victory over Bayern.

Leverkusen opened the scoring through a Bayern loanee.

Josip Stanisic, who's on loan at Leverkusen from Bayern, smashed home from close range to give his side the lead.

He joined the club last summer on a one-year loan deal as he netted against his parent club.

The Croatian international refused to celebrate his goal, but he was mobbed by his teammates.

Alex Grimaldo doubled Leverkusen's advantage just after the break when he produced a stunning finish from inside the box.

Jeremie Frimpong, who has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs, added a third deep, deep into stoppage time when he brilliantly scored into an empty net after Manuel Neuer went up for a corner kick.

With 21 league games played, Leverkusen are five points clear of second-placed Bayern.

Alonso's team have won an impressive 17 league games this season, dropping points in just four matches and have yet to lose a league fixture.

If Leverkusen avoid defeat in their next two games, they will break Bayern's German football record for the longest unbeaten run across all competitions.
