Man Utd receive Bruno Fernandes injury boost ahead of Tottenham clash

Man Utd receive Bruno Fernandes injury boost ahead of Tottenham clash

United face Tottenham in London on Thursday night.

Bruno Fernandes is expected to be fit for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Tottenham, a fresh report has claimed.

Tottenham play United in a decisive game for both teams' top four hopes. Despite the north Londoners' problems of late, a win this evening would put them within just three points of United.

To do so however, Ryan Mason's men would need a dramatic response to Sunday's 6-1 humbling to Newcastle.

United, meanwhile, booked their FA Cup final spot at the weekend, despite an unconvincing display against Brighton at Wembley.

While there have been tangible improvements during Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge, they are far from guaranteed a Champions League spot next term.

United need a victory, and the club's fans will be heartened by the news Fernandes looks like he will be fit for the game.

The Mirror claimed the Fernandes travelled to London with his United team-mates ahead of the encounter.

The Portugal international, who is United’s vice-captain, picked up a knock during the FA Cup semi-final win against Brighton last Sunday and was a doubt for the Tottenham game.

However, it appears the player has proved his fitness to manager Ten Hag. Fernandes left Wembley on Sunday wearing a protective boot, and his fitness was a conversation point during the United manager’s press conference on Wednesday.

On injuries, Ten Hag said: "There are some players who are unavailable, [such as] Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

"We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is because we don't know yet. It's a question mark. But I think, for the rest, we are quite okay."

When asked about Fernandes' protective boot, Ten Hag replied: "It's more often that with players, we protect them. It's prevention, but it has to settle down. We have seen he played a full game and it happened in the first half. But tomorrow is a quick turnaround, so we have to see what is possible."
