Real Madrid's hopes of signing Rodri may have taken a brutal blow as two European giants are making a late push for the Manchester City star.
Following a spectacular summer with Spain at the World Cup that saw him led his country to the biggest trophy in sport and claim that golden ball, Rodri has once again proved he's one of the best in the world.
After suffering a brutal anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2024, many fans were concerned that the Manchester City midfielder would struggle to get back to his best.
But the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner has shown that he's still in his prime and has therefore attracted renewed interest from Real Madrid following the appointment of new manager Jose Mourinho.

Rodri has long been linked with a move to join the Spanish giants, and with his current deal with Man City set to expire next year, it seems that a transfer may finally be possible.
In fact, a report from French outlet RMC Sport has claimed that Real Madrid have agreed personal terms with Rodri and are now negotiating the a transfer price with Manchester City.
However, it appears that Madrid's dream signing could now be attracted elsewhere as both Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have reportedly launched a late move for the Spain captain.
The report claims that PSG have already contacted City to inquire about the potential conditions of a Rodri transfer, but the remove remains in the early stages.
Meanwhile Barcelona are said to have contacted Rodri’s representatives following Frenkie de Jong’s injury, with the Dutchman set for an extended period away from the pitch after suffering a tear of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee during the World Cup.
Despite this, it's still believed that Real Madrid remain firmly in the driving seat regarding Rodri's future, and are the most likely club to secure his signature should he leave Man City this summer.

How Rodri's future could have a huge impact on Man United
Regardless, news that Rodri could join either PSG or Barcelona is not good news for Manchester United fans, as the City star's potential transfer to Real Madrid could have a huge impact on Michael Carrick securing another major signing.
It's long been known that Manchester United are desperate to secure another blockbuster deal for a new midfielder this summer, having already brought Aston Villa star Youri Tielemans and Chelsea's Andrey Santos to Old Trafford for a combined £85million.
Among the big names to have recently been linked with United is Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni, who could be allowed to leave the Bernabeu this summer, despite Mourinho's hopes of keeping the Frenchman.
However, it's been reported that Real Madrid would only allow the 26-year-old to leave if they are able to secure a move for Rodri as his replacement.
Therefore, Rodri joining another club, or staying at Manchester City due to his ongoing back injury, could in turn deal a major blow to United and their hopes of signing Tchouameni in what would no doubt be a major statement signing.
