PSG set Bradley Barcola's transfer fee after refusing contract talks - and it looks like a typo

Bradley Barcola is open to leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer after starring for France at the World Cup, but his asking price will need to be reduced.

Barcola's future has dominated the headlines ever since the transfer window opened in June.

The 23-year-old wasn't happy when Luis Enrique left him out of the starting lineup for their Champions League final win over Arsenal.

He only played the final 37 minutes as the game went into extra time, with PSG prevailing on penalties to wrap up their second successive European triumph.

Enrique pushed Barcola down the pecking order last season due to the star-studded talent he has in attacking areas, most notably Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

But even then, the Frenchman made 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and assisting seven times.

However, after being angered by Enrique for not starting him in the Champions League final, it emerged that PSG wanted to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.

The 19-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid, prefers a switch to the Parc des Princes, and he would almost certainly reduce Barcola's chances of starting games next season.

At the start of July, Barcola made it clear that he was going to decide his future after the World Cup, with France eventually losing in the semi-finals to Spain.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the electric forward has since decided against signing a new contract at PSG and is 'open' to exploring a move this summer.

That will naturally pique Liverpool's interest, as they've placed him at the top of their wishlist. But the problem has always been agreeing the finances of a deal with the two-time Champions League winners, and one update has revealed a shockingly high asking price.

Liverpool will have to break the Premier League transfer record to sign Bradley Barcola

This summer will be remembered for how many times the British transfer record has been smashed.

Manchester City broke it by signing Elliot Anderson for £116million from Nottingham Forest, and then Chelsea broke it again with a £117m move for Morgan Rogers.

PSG have used those deals as a 'valuation yardstick', according to Ben Jacobs on X, and the French giants reportedly value Barcola at €170m (£145m).

A deal of that magnitude would break the Premier League transfer record - currently held by Liverpool - who captured Alexander Isak for £125m from Newcastle United last summer.

Jacobs does, however, state that the Reds 'hope' to bring down that eye-watering asking price, with multiple clubs already making 'enquiries' for him.

Barcola is an incredible talent and arguably one of the best forwards in Europe, but he's worth nowhere near what PSG value him at.

In fact, triggering that asking price would make him the third most expensive footballer ever - behind Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

It is clear that PSG are under no pressure to sell one of their prized assets, but should the player do more to force an exit, it will be interesting to see whether his valuation is lowered.
