An AS Roma steward has been suspended for taking a selfie with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen after the 1-0 defeat on Sunday.

Osimhen scored a stunning late winner for the Serie A leaders at the Stadio Olimpico, getting the better of Chris Smalling and smashing home from a tight angle.

Luciano Spalletti's side are still undefeated, having won nine and drawn two of their first 11 fixtures.

Osimhen, Napoli's €70 million record signing, has been in fine form this season with five goals in nine games in all competitions.

But after the win a steward ended up having his vest taken off him for asking the Nigerian for a picture.

As per Calciomercato, Matteo Lo Cicero is a huge Napoli fan and also idolises Osimhen - even having pictures of him on his phone.

Oma Akatugba, a Nigerian and UEFA Accredited journalist, arranged for him to meet the former Lille striker in the area where friends and family normally congregate.

The 18-year-old had the time of his life chatting with Osimhen, who happily posed for pictures with him.

That landed him in a spot of bother, however and his manager demanded he give the steward's vest uniform back.

Osimhen tried to negotiate with the woman, asked the youngster how much he was being paid and said he would have someone contact him.

But for Matteo, meeting his hero was much more important than any job.

“Victor came, I introduced him to his idol and Victor asked him to sit with him and talk," Akatugba wrote on Twitter.

"The dude was shaking as he couldn’t believe what was happening. He said his dream had come true he didn’t know he would ever have the chance to sit with the striker.

“And afterwards, a lady who happens to be like a manager of the stewards came and asked the lad to pull off his vest and hand it to her and leave. Perhaps he had circumvented the rules by having to sit down with a player during work. To my surprise, Victor intervened and told the lady.

“He called him and she should not take relieve him of his duties. Because of language issues, we couldn’t sort it out and Victor asked the boy how much they pay him, he mentioned it and Victor told him someone would reach out soon. The lad said meeting Victor was enough for him, that he didn’t care if they sacked him. He was joyous despite losing what looks like a part-time job for him.”

Osimhen was also seen having a chat with opposite number Tammy Abraham.
