"He's a player.." - Arsenal legend urges Mikel Arteta to sign former Tottenham target

"He's a player.." - Arsenal legend urges Mikel Arteta to sign former Tottenham target

A number of Premier League clubs have been linked with him.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has called on the club to sign Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after being impressed by his performances at the World Cup in Qatar.

Amrabat, 26, played a major role in his side in helping his side become the first African team to reach the semi-finals of football's biggest competition.

Morocco beat Belgium, Spain and Portugal on their way to the last four before eventually losing 2-0 to defending champions France.

Didier Deschamps' side will now face Argentina in Sunday's final, with both nations seeking their third World Cup win.

A number of Morocco internationals are now being linked with moves in the January transfer off the back of their incredible World Cup run.

One player touted for a potential move is Fiorentina midfielder Amrabat, who received praise for his energetic performances throughout the tournament.

Amrabat has been linked with a possible move to Liverpool after he recently described the Merseyside team as a "beautiful" club.

Meanwhile, Tottenham could look to revive their interest in Amrabat next month after previously attempting to sign him in the last January transfer window.

Parlour calls on Arsenal to sign Amrabat

Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour was impressed by Amrabat's performances in Qatar and has called on the north London club to look into signing the midfielder.

When asked if he would take Amrabat at Arsenal, Parlour told talkSPORT: "Definitely.

"What I've seen of him at this tournament, he's not phased by big games - which it is for your country. He is so comfortable. He's always on the half turn and always looking to probe and try and get balls in behind the full-backs."

Parlour added: "I tell you he's a player. If I was Arsenal, I'd be looking at him. Central midfield, he can get his foot in.

"Very good player."
