Arsenal enter race for Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni amid interest from Liverpool and Man Utd

Arteta wants a new midfielder.

Arsenal have entered the race to sign highly-rated Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his midfield options.

The Gunners made sure they maintained their gap to Manchester City at the top of the table with a 4-1 over Leeds United on Saturday.

After recently recovering from injury striker Gabriel Jesus scored for the first time in October with his brace making sure Leeds has no chance to get back into it.

Despite all focus being on the title run-in, Arsenal are already planning for the summer transfer window.

According to Football London, improving options in central midfield is a high priority for boss Arteta with Real Madrid's Tchouameni high on the list.

It also includes Moises Caicedo who the Gunners tried to sign back in January and West Ham captain Declan Rice.

However, the Los Blancos midfielder could be a cheaper option with reports from Spain stating that Madrid won't rule out a sale and that the French international would only cost £62m.

Gunners face strong competition

Arsenal aren't the only Premier League club interested in signing the player with Liverpool and Manchester United also keeping tabs on him.

They are both also in need of midfield reinforcements as both Erik ten Hag and Jurgen Klopp try to build a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.

Tchouameni moved to Madrid for £85m last summer but has struggled for game time due to the form of Eduardo Camavinga.

He's started just 15 games in La Liga this season and is yet to score but has registered three assists.

At just 23 years old he would be a great signing for any club, especially for the price tag quoted as it's only likely to rise in the future.

If Arsenal win the title then he might be persuaded to move to North London in the hope of winning even more silverware.
