New data reveals Arsenal squad would cost less than Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd despite £200m transfer spree

New data reveals that Arsenal's squad for the 2023/24 season will cost less than several Premier League rivals.

Arsenal will head into the 2023/23 Premier League season with a lower squad value than their main Premier League competitors, despite their immense spending to kickstart the summer.

Despite losing out on the race for the Premier League title last season to a dominant Manchester City side, Mikel Arteta's young Arsenal squad have made serious strides in recent years and they have wasted no time in building on this progress during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have been the most active side in world football so far following the conclusion of the season, with the £65 million signing of Kai Havertz confirmed and the arrivals of Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber for a combined fee of around £140 million now imminent.

A hefty level of investment into the squad but regardless of the £200 million spending spree, the value of the team will still not exceed that of their rivals at the top of the Premier League.

According to transfermarkt, Arsenal's purchase value when accounting for the new additions this summer will rise to a figure of £647m. Which would see them remain in fifth in terms of value across the top flight of English football.

The investment will narrow the margin to Liverpool in fourth however, who currently have a purchase value of £606m but could complete the signing of RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, with his value currently standing at an estimated £42m, taking their figure to £648m.

Elsewhere, Manchester United see their number at around £771m but this could be set to increase in the coming days after agreeing a £60m deal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

Second in the table are Pep Guardiola's treble winners with a value of £836m as they closely follow Chelsea at the top of the table with a value exceeding £850m - outlining that money spent does not always correlate to success if the transfer business lacks clear direction and planning, as Todd Boehly discovered throughout the 2022/23 campaign.
