Man Utd set date for Mason Mount medical as Chelsea transfer moves closer

Man Utd set date for Mason Mount medical as Chelsea transfer moves closer

He's set to undergo a medical next week.

Manchester United have set the date for Mason Mount to undergo a medical ahead of his move from Chelsea.

Mount, 24, is set to sign a five-year deal, with the option of a further year, with United if he passes his medical.

United have agreed to pay Chelsea £55m for the England international, with a further £5m in potential add-ons.

Those add-ons reportedly include a 'trophy' clause which would see United make an additional payment to Chelsea if the midfielder wins silverware at Old Trafford.

Mount has opted to leave his boyhood club Chelsea after turning down the offer of a new deal at Stamford Bridge, with the midfielder unhappy with the terms offered.

Mount is set for a huge pay increase at Old Trafford, with some reports claiming he could earn as much as £300,000 a week included bonuses – compared to his reported £80,000-per-week contract at Chelsea.

United set date for Mount medical

The Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law has now confirmed that United have 'scheduled a medical for Mount on Monday', which is expected to take place at the club's training base, Carrington.

It will take place once Mount has returned from his summer holiday.

Two United players have already returned to Carrington early ahead of the new season, Lisandro Martinez and Dean Henderson.

United's non-international players are also set to return on Thursday, with the rest of the squad reporting back for duty the following week.

Mount could be set for an awkward reunion with Martinez, who he clashed with during a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge last season.

The Argentine, 25, has returned to United early as he continues to work his way back up to full fitness after undergoing surgery on a broken foot, which kept him out of the final months of last season.

United face Leeds in their opening pre-season friendly in Oslo, Norway on July 12, with their first match of the new Premier League season coming against Wolves on August 14.
