"That's Madrid for you.." - Andy Robertson comments resurface as 'Spanish giants plot move for Liverpool star'

"That's Madrid for you.." - Andy Robertson comments resurface as 'Spanish giants plot move for Liverpool star'

Real Madrid are in the market for a new left-back.

Andy Robertson's comments about Real Madrid have resurfaced amid rumours linking him with a move to the Spanish giants.

The Liverpool defender has emerged as a potential target for Carlo Ancelotti this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Real Madrid are in the market for a new left-back, with Ferland Mendy expected to leave at the end of the season, and Eduardo Camavinga allegedly keen to move back into his usual midfield role.

Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies had been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu, but the Bundesliga side have insisted he is not for sale and are working on extending his contract, which is due to expire in 2025.

In turn, Los Blancos have readjusted their focus to Robertson, who is tied down to a deal at Liverpool until 2026.

The Scotland captain has made no inclination that he wants to leave Liverpool this summer, having played a key role under Jurgen Klopp ever since he made the switch to Merseyside from Hull City in 2017.

However, Madrid's Champions League status could be an immediate pull, with Liverpool likely to miss out on qualification this season.

According to the Daily Mail, he would cost in excess of £40 million.

Meanwhile, Robertson's comments regarding Madrid's tactics have since resurfaced.

What did Robertson say about Real Madrid?

Robertson has come up against Madrid on a number of occasions in his Liverpool carer, losing twice to them in Champions League finals and also in this year’s competition - when the Reds were dispatched 6-2 on aggregate.

Speaking after last year's Champions League final 1-0 defeat to Ancelotti's men, Robertson acknowledged Madrid's tactics, stating that they "deserved to win".

"I think think the team that ends up with the trophy is the team that deserves to win," the Scotsman said (quotes via PLZ Soccer)

"I don't really remember them having any chances other than the goal they scored, but that's Real Madrid for you.

"They don't panic with all these stats. If you look at all the knock-out games they've been in, probably every one of them are very similar.

"So fair play to them, they've won the trophy and they deserve it."
