Teenager Oliver Bearman could do something no F1 driver has ever done at Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Teenager Oliver Bearman could do something no F1 driver has ever done at Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Ollie Bearman will be racing for the Haas F1 Team this weekend.

British teenager Oliver Bearman could make history this weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Bearman, 19, is regarded as one of the biggest talents in Formula 1 having impressed in Formula 2.

Earlier in the season, during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah, Bearman was drafted in as an emergency replacement for Carlos Sainz.

The Spaniard had to undergo surgery after being diagnosed with appendicitis.

Bearman, in his first-ever F1 race, finished in seventh place in what was an impressive debut.

Ahead of the 2025 season, it was announced that Bearman will be a driver for the Haas F1 Team and with Kevin Magnussen banned this weekend, the 19-year-old will again step in.

Bearman will have the chance to create F1 history this weekend and become the first driver to score points for two different teams in their first two races.

Although there have been drivers who have scored points for two constructors during a course of a season, no one has ever scored points for two different teams in their first two Grands Prix.

Speaking to BBC Sport ahead of the weekend, Bearman said: “I hope that one day I will be fighting for a world championship - my goal in my life is to win an F1 world championship.

“I'm young, and I have a lot of time ahead of me to hopefully stay within F1 and these are really the early days that I want to enjoy and learn as much as I can.”

After the first two practice sessions, Bearman added: “FP2 was amazing, the best session of my life! No, it was nice to do a full Friday, build up step by step without having to rush anything. I was quite happy with how the day went, how it finished up. I was confident in the car, which is really important at a track like this, so a good day.

“It’s tight. I only hit the wall once today in FP2, but it’s little things, you play with the margins here. My goal is to be proud of my performance. That’s going to be done by improving myself, eventually finishing at a level that I know I’m capable of and staying clean – having a clean tomorrow will be important.”
