Christian Horner Faces Two Major Ferrari Problems and One Affected Lewis Hamilton

Christian Horner has been linked with a move to Ferrari.

Christian Horner is reportedly facing two huge problems amid reports linking him with a move to Ferrari.

Back in July, the Formula 1 world was shaken to its core after Horner was removed as Red Bull Racing team principal and CEO.

He was quickly replaced by Laurent Mekies, who was promoted from sister team Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.

Last month, it emerged that Horner and Red Bull had reached a settlement for the 51-year-old to leave the organisation.

As claimed by the Daily Mail, Horner will be paid a £80 million package after a compromise was reached to terminate his contract, which was said to be worth £110 million.

Since leaving Red Bull, Horner has been linked with the likes of Aston Martin, Haas and Ferrari.

Earlier in the week, it was claimed that Ferrari president John Elkann is 'apparently really focused on securing Christian Horner's place' as team principal - despite recently agreeing a contract extension with current boss Frederic Vasseur.

However, amid the speculation that he could move to the Scuderia, Horner is reportedly facing two major problems.

Back in July, German news outlet BILD stated that Horner rejected Ferrari's advances as he is ‘convinced’ that he ‘needs to master’ the Italian language before making the move.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari at the start of the 2025 season and has admitted that his Italian is not yet up to scratch, but he is taking lessons.

In addition, Horner also has 'reservations' about moving his family from the UK to Maranello, where Ferrari are based.

It has been suggested that he is 'reluctant' to take his young children away from familiar surroundings, which could ultimately be the sticking point in Ferrari's chances of landing the Englishman.

What has Christian Horner said about joining Ferrari?

Earlier in the season, Horner responded to the Ferrari links, he said: "Of course it's always flattering to be associated with other teams but my commitment 100 per cent is with Red Bull. It always has been, and certainly will be for the long-term.

"There's a bunch of speculation always in this business. People coming here, going there, or whatever. I think people within the team know exactly what the situation is. My Italian is worse than Flavio [Briatore, Alpine's Italian team principal]'s English, so how on earth would that work?"
