Red Bull have appointed Christian Horner's replacement after sacking the Team Principal following 20 years at the F1 team.

On the back of a disappointing British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Horner has been relieved of his duties at the team with immediate effect.

Horner had been with Red Bull Racing since they took over from Jaguar racing in 2005 winning six constructors titles, most recently in 2023.

However, despite Max Verstappen winning the 2024 driver's championship, Red Bull have been on a significant downward trajectory in the last year and sit fourth in this year's standings.

Following Horner's sacking, the team have confirmed that Laurent Mekies will take over as CEO from Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, and Alan Permane will replace him as the team principal of the sister team.

A statement read: With immediate effect, Laurent Mekies will take over the duties of CEO at Red Bull Racing. As part of his change, Alan Permane, currently Racing Director, will be promoted to Team Principal at Racing Bulls."

Mekies has since broken his silence on replacing Horner at Red Bull.

"The last year and a half has been an absolute privilege to lead the team with Peter," he began.

"It has been an amazing adventure to contribute to the birth of Racing Bulls together with all our talented people. The spirit of the whole team is incredible, and I strongly believe that this is just the beginning.

"Alan is the perfect man to take over now and continue our path. He knows the team inside out and has always been an important pillar of our early successes."

"With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1.

"Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history."
