F1 star could face one-race suspension after multiple incidents during Chinese Grand Prix weekend

The Chinese Grand Prix was won by McLaren star Oscar Piastri.

A Formula 1 star could soon have the threat of a suspension looming over him after an incident-packed Chinese Grand Prix weekend.

After a chaotic Australian Grand Prix last time out, F1 returned this weekend with the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai.

On Saturday, the first sprint race of the season took place, with Ferrari star Lewis Hamilton winning ahead of Oscar Piastri and Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

However, Hamilton was unable to build on his sprint victory as he was disqualified along with Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly after the Grand Prix.

There will now be a two-week break before the Japanese Grand Prix takes place.

Just two races into the 2025 season, one F1 star will soon be worrying about a potential suspension.

Alpine driver Jack Doohan, who is taking part in his first F1 campaign, endured an incident-packed weekend.

During the sprint, the Australian was handed a 10-second penalty and two penalty points after colliding with Stake F1 Team's Gabriel Bortoleto.

On Sunday, Doohan was involved in another incident as he was adjudged to have forced Racing Bulls star Isack Hadjar off the track at Turn 14 when fighting for position.

A statement from the FIA read: "Car seven [Doohan] was overtaken by car six [Hadjar] in the run-up to turn 14 and in trying to take the position back on the inside, Doohan lost control, locked up and forced Hadjar off the track.

"We accordingly imposed a 10-second time penalty with two penalty points which is in keeping with the guidelines for forcing a driver off the track."

In just two races, Doohan has already collected four points on his super license, eight more will lead to a one-race suspension.

Last season, then-Haas driver Kevin Magnussen became the first driver in 12 years to receive a one-race ban.

The Dane was banned from racing at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last September after amassing 12 points on his super license, he was replaced by British youngster Oliver Bearman.
