Gerwyn Price has explained why he has given his daughter's boyfriend a brutal new nickname.
The 2021 world champion remains one of the biggest characters in darts and is featured in the 2026 Premier League lineup despite a disappointing performance showing at the most recent World Darts Championship, where he lost 3-0 to Wesley Plaisier in the second round.
Price, a former rugby player, has been part of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) since January 2014 and is currently 12th in the Order of Merit with prize money of £551,000.
His wife Bethan and two children support 'The Iceman' in all of his exploits on the oche and in a recent appearance on the Tops & Tales Darts Podcast, spoke about the dynamic and how they spur him on.

He went as far as saying that he feels he performs better when his wife is in attendance for his games.

"Without the support it's definitely a lot harder," Price admitted when discussing family support.
"Every time I'm away it's constant support - there's never any, 'I don't want you to be away this week'. She comes away with me quite a lot and "I know there's some players, and players are not on the Pro Tour now and haven't got their tour card, that probably lost it because they didn't have that backing.
"I know there's players that still play, when they lose, rather than get in hard lines they get a lot of grief and that's not a good look."
"She's a good omen for me. Every time she comes away with me I seem to play a lot better - hence why she's with me this week!
"Every time she comes I seem to do a bit better."
Price was speaking around the World Masters event in Milton Keynes, where Luke Littler continued his dominance by defeating Luke Humphries to claim the £100,000 prize and win the competition for the first time.

Price was knocked off by Littler in the semi-finals, having beaten James Hurrell, compatriot Jonny Clayton and Chris Dobey in his run to the final four.
And while he likes having his other half around for big tournaments, he believes his daughter's boyfriend Jude is a bad curse and does not typically help him produce his best form.
The 40-year-old added: "On the other hand, when my daughter and her boyfriend - not so much my daughter but her boyfriend - I call him the 'jinx' - 'If you get through to the final I'll be up Sunday' and I go, 'No you won't!'".
