Darts star handed 11-year ban for match-fixing as official statement released

He's also been handed a fine of more than £17,000.

Darts star Andy Jenkins has been banned for 11 years after being found guilty of match-fixing.

A Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) disciplinary committee found Jenkins guilty of fixing 12 Modus Super Series matches between February 2022 and July 2023.

The Englishman, who reached the semi-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship in 2007, has been banned from all DRA events for 11 years and has also been ordered to pay a £17,580 fine.

Jenkins had denied match-fixing but admitted placing 88 bets on matches between March 2022 and May 2023, breaching a DRA rule preventing players from betting on any darts event.

For breaching those rules around betting, Jenkins received an additional 12-month suspension which will run concurrently with his other punishments.

Jenkins' ban has been backdated to November 2023 and will prevent him from being involved in any DRA event until November 15, 2034.

John Pierce, Gambling Commission director of enforcement, said: "This case sends a strong and unequivocal message to all sportspeople - if you fix matches, you are likely to be caught and face serious consequences.

"Betting customers in Britain deserve confidence that the markets they engage with are fair and free from corruption.

"Our Sports Betting Intelligence Unit will continue to work closely with partners such as the Darts Regulation Authority to identify and prevent match-fixing."

Jenkins has until May 6 2025 to appeal the decisions of the Disciplinary Committee.

Last month, Prakash Jiwa was banned from all DRA events for eight years after being found guilty of fixing four matches and betting on darts.

Jiwa was suspended from being involved in any DRA events until November 6 2031, and also ordered to pay a £17,741 fine.

Jenkins and Jiwa are not the only players to have received bans in recent months.

Leighton Bennett was found guilty of 10 breaches of match fixing across four matches and was handed an eight-year ban by the DRA earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Billy Warriner was given a 10-year suspension after being found guilty of betting on matches, providing inside information and acting as an unregistered agent.
