Despite winning their fourth Premier League title in five seasons, Manchester City have not stood still in the transfer market.

They began their summer spending with the statement signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian is operating at almost a goal per game, so the £51 million release clause City had to trigger seems a relative bargain.

He will end the two-year long search for Sergio Agüero's successor, with the club cycling through Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo before securing Haaland.

With Zack Steffen's desire to attain regular first-team football, the club then had to secure a back-up goalkeeper as his replacement.

That was easily done with the free transfer of Stefan Ortega, who joined the Blues earlier last week.

Julian Alvarez' move from South America was already confirmed in January, so Kalvin Phillips became City's summer third signing on Monday.

The Yorkshire-born midfielder has took the leap - maybe akin to Jack Grealish - up in quality to test himself at the highest level, alongside some of the best players.

All week, the 26-year-old has been beaming with excitement about the new chapter in his career, stating the decision to leave his boyhood club, Leeds United was the toughest of his career.

That was further emphasised in the club's latest episode of InsideCity.

The unique documentary-style YouTube series reveals the behind the scenes production at City and what goes into Phillips' signing was the topic of this particular video.

At one part, Phillips was completing a stage of his medical and revealed some interesting details about his move to the North West.

When asked why he decided to make such a big transfer, Phillips said: "Just the fact that it was Manchester City.

"Anybody else, I probably wouldn't have gone.

"The thought of playing for City, the manager, the players they've got."

It seems Phillips is following a similar trend of City's recent acquisitions.

Everyone in the last couple of years has mentioned Pep Guardiola, the world-class squad and the elite facilities as the main reasons for joining the Sky Blues.
