Jack Grealish Reveals Excitement Following Manchester City's Erling Haaland Capture

Manchester City star Jack Grealish has discussed how the signing of Erling Haaland will help push the squad further next season.

Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has explained the positive impact a big signing such as Erling Haaland can have on the squad in the club's pursuit of silverware.

The Premier League champions have confirmed the Norwegian's arrival from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year contract for a reported initial fee of £51 million.

Haaland will officially join Manchester City on July 1 and will travel with the club he supported as a child on their pre-season tour to the United States next month ahead of their Community Shield tie with Liverpool in August.

Less than 12 months on from his arrival to the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City's record signing, Jack Grealish has a Premier League winner's medal in his cabinet and is keen to kick on from an indifferent campaign next term.

Despite scoring six times and providing four assists in his debut season in Manchester, Grealish was in and out of the starting XI for a large chunk of the previous campaign and was often left on the bench in crucial Premier League and Champions League ties by Pep Guardiola.

However, the England international believes the arrival of one of the most exciting names currently in world football will boost his side's chances of winning trophies and help stir up competition for places further in attack.

Speaking at McDonald’s Fun Football's launch event at the weekend, a scheme encouraging kids aged 5-11 across the UK to enjoy their sessions for free, Grealish said: "I like it when Manchester City makes big signings, not other clubs, because I want our club to be the best!"

"Of course, it’s brilliant. We have just signed Erling Haaland. It is good competition for players like myself because it helps to keep you on your toes."

"But it is also brilliant because it just means you have got more chance of winning yourself. I love it and love to see the club making big signings."

Manchester City have also closed a deal for River Plate forward Julian Alvarez, who will soon head to England for pre-season before joining the first-team for next season.

The Blues are also reportedly keen on signing Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips and Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella this summer, as Pep Guardiola and his side look to make it three Premier League title wins on the spin and possibly break their Champions League duck next season.
