Erling Haaland and Manuel Akanji were among the absentees from Manchester City training on Tuesday afternoon, as Pep Guardiola's squad geared up for their final Champions League game of 2022.

City secured their place in the last-16 of the competition via a 0-0 draw in Copenhagen several weeks ago, with results elsewhere in Group G falling in their favour.

A week later, a 0-0 draw in Dortmund then secured their spot as Group G winners ahead of the Bundesliga outfit.

Subsequently, Manchester City will face one of the runners-up elsewhere in the Champions League group stage in the last-16 of the competition, avoiding teams from England and Borussia Dortmund.

Ahead of their final game of the group stage, against La Liga's Sevilla at the Etihad Stadium, City have been putting together their final preparations for the fixture at the City Football Academy.

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon during his pre-match press conference, Pep Guardiola confirmed that Erling Haaland would miss the game through injury, despite the striker improving in his recovery from a foot problem sustained last week.

Elsewhere, Kyle Walker would also continue to miss out as he recovers from groin surgery, while Kalvin Phillips is making significant progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery.

Manchester City trained in front of the global media at their training base on Tuesday afternoon, with a number of significant absentees missing from the squad.

Additionally, several players from Manchester City's academy squad were called up to train, and may play a part in Wednesday night's clash under the lights.

Here is the complete Manchester City squad spotted in training ahead of the match against Sevilla this week.

Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega, Scott Carson.

Defenders: Joao Cancelo, Rico Lewis, Jadel Katongo, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Sergio Gomez, Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

Midfielders: Kalvin Phillips, Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne.

Forwards: Carlos Borges, Dire Mebude, Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer.

Manchester City fans will notice that Manuel Akanji is one significant absentee from the squad in training.

The Swiss international defender was withdrawn from action against Leicester, and there is an understanding in some quarters that the centre-back picked up a muscular injury in that game, although that is yet to be confirmed.
