Barcelona Now 'Fully Convinced' Of Signing Manchester City Superstar This Summer

Officials at FC Barcelona are now reportedly 'fully convinced' that they will sign Manchester City superstar Bernardo Silva this summer.

Aside from Manchester City’s pursuit of the likes of Marc Cucurella and Kalvin Phillips, as well as Gabriel Jesus being linked with a move to Arsenal, rumours concerning Bernardo Silva and a potential switch to Barcelona is one that refuses to go away.

It has been widely reported that with the funds incurred through Frenkie de Jong’s potential move to Manchester United in the coming weeks, the La Liga side may plan to finance the Sky Blue lynchpin’s arrival in the same summer.

A recent revelation made by Mundo Deportivo had gone as far as to claim that the player considers his time in the North-West of England to be ‘over’, as he eyes the start of a ‘fresh adventure’ from next season.

Notably, Blaugrana president Joan Laporta also hinted at his side’s interest in the Portuguese international by cheekily enquiring whether he was set to participate in Juan Carlos Unzue’s charity match between Barcelona and Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s humorous retort about ten other players accompanying the former AS Monaco star also implied that the Spanish giants’ admiration for the player is not a mystery to the Premier League champions.

While one can continue to dissect the pair’s quotes to assess the 27-year old’s chances of departing the Etihad Stadium, an update from Spain has provided more clarity about the ongoing situation.

As per the latest information provided by journalist Helena Condis, Barcelona are ‘fully convinced’ that they will be able to complete the signing of Bernardo Silva from Manchester City this summer.

It is also explained that this belief from the part of Camp Nou officials has been communicated to the midfield maestro and his super agent, Jorge Mendes.

Further details suggest that those around Bernardo Silva hold the opinion that they must showcase ‘patience’ as the move is seemingly miles away from reaching completion at this present moment.

Importantly, it is also mentioned that any potential player ‘exchanges’ have been ‘ruled out’, as Manchester City are totally uninterested in the prospect of signing Frenkie de Jong ahead of the coming season.

This lack of interest in the Dutch international is likely as a direct result of Etihad officials focussing their attentions on securing the services of Leeds star Kalvin Phillips - who is valued at £60 million by his current club.

It is worth noting that the revelations involving Jorge Mendes pertain to the recent update provided by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on how Bernardo Silva’s name was mentioned during a recent meeting between Mendes and Xavi’s side.

In the 2021/22 season, the Benfica academy graduate was arguably in the form of his life and played an instrumental role in the Sky Blues’ successful defence of their Premier League title.

With the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Raheem Sterling all linked with exits from Manchester City in the coming weeks, only time will tell whether Bernardo Silva will also look elsewhere as his next destination.

The aforementioned trio have all been linked with moves within the Premier League too, with Jesus the closest to securing a transfer as Arsenal close in on an agreement.

Zinchenko has been linked with West Ham and Everton, although it is the latter who are believed to be holding the strongest interest.

Finally, Sterling is commanding significant admiration and interest from Chelsea.

Officials in charge of transfer dealings at Stamford Bridge are seemingly insistent on signing the England international, but there remains a significant different in transfer valuations from Chelsea and Manchester City.
