The Creed boxing saga is set to shake up the big screen once more - and promises to provide even more punch with a heavyweight storyline when Creed III hits cinemas next month.

The sporting drama follows the story of fight family royalty Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan); the son of legendary heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed - continuing to fulfill his father’s legacy as long-lost friends resurface and turn to enemies.

Fresh from Marvel’s latest Ant-Man installation; Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, American actor Jonathan Majors will feature as the main antagonist for Creed III. Majors will portray Adonis' new adversary, Damian Anderson - an old friend turned foe and former boxing prodigy, fresh out of prison, who comes to settle scores in the ring in a truly epic brawl. This face-off between former friends is more than just a fight - it’s years of raw resurfaced emotion. Adonis must put his future on the line to go head to head with a fighter who has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Bursting into the ring as Creed’s biggest obstacle yet, 33-year-old Californian actor Majors recently made his mark in the MCU as mega-villain Kang The Conquerer, but has starred in hard-hitting dramas including The Last Black Man in San Francisco and uncompromising boxing flick, Jungleland.

Michael B. Jordan is not only stepping back into the ring for the threequel, but he’ll also be making his directorial debut behind the camera for the hotly-anticipated addition to the Creed series.

Speaking on the storyline and character development, Jordan said: “I wanted the characters in my film to face their disagreements while making a statement about humanity and its nuances, with empathy.“

“How we handle and communicate our emotions is a part of our exploration of our inner self.”

“In “Creed III,” the film shows the different roads, relationships and interactions of two men that made different choices, lived different lives and found themselves in the same ring.”

To make the fight scenes even more visceral, this third installation has been filmed in IMAX, meaning that audiences will be able to fully immerse themselves in the movie - minute by minute, blow by blow.

Professional boxers, Tony Bellew and Canelo Álvarez are also set to make cameo appearances in the film providing real, raw fighting action.

Commenting on the incredibly sharp and dynamic action footage, actor-director Michael B. Jordan says viewers will be “able to see every bead of sweat, every impact”.

For those who are new to the punch-packing cinematic experience that is the Creed franchise, here’s a quick rundown on the story so far.

The first self-titled 2015 film, Creed follows a young Adonis’ reaffirming journey of walking in his heavyweight champ father’s footsteps and embracing his boxing legacy by seeking mentorship from friend and rival fighter, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone). Packed with emotional twists and turns, this gripping film paved the way for what became a killer saga.

The soon-to-be trilogy was then joined by Creed II (2018) with Russian boxer, Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) training his son for a career in battle. The Drago and Creed descendants take to the ring and an overconfident Adonis is hospitalised. Once recovered, Adonis decides it’s time for a rematch to finally take down the Russian tyrant, Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) and hold on to his championship title.

The trailer for Creed III was released on YouTube by Warner Brothers on October 18 and has already received plenty of praise from those eagerly awaiting its release on the big screen.

In another epic showdown, Creed will have to face the fight of his life - or risk losing everything.

Creed III will be out in cinemas on March 3rd.
