The war of words between Dana White and Oscar De La Hoya has intensified with the UFC president taking some brutal shots at the boxing great.
Retired world champion-turned-promoter De La Hoya recently took aim at White over fighter pay following Alexander Volkanovski's victory over Brian Ortega at UFC 266.
It's not the first time De La Hoya has had a pop at White regarding the topic, but the timing of these particular comments in the wake of an incredible event culminating in one of the best title fights of the year clearly rubbed the UFC boss the wrong way - and understandably so.
White ruthlessly hit back, labelling his nemesis a "crackhead" while also claiming that he faked catching Covid-19 prior to his withdrawal against former MMA star Vitor Belfort.
STFU U crack head. Faking that u had Covid and robbing me of watching u get KTFO by @vitorbelfort you should win an academy award for your hospital performance.- danawhite (@danawhite) September 26, 2021
It looked like Dana had landed the knockout blow, but De La Hoya has now responded.
"That's all you got Dana White? You're accusing me of FAKING a virus that killed almost 700,000 Americans to avoid a fight??" De La Hoya wrote on his Instagram story.
"You pathetic piece of s**t you've never even laced up the gloves. And you completely ignored my original point I made about UNDERPAYING YOUR FIGHTERS."
Bad move, bad move indeed.
White, clearly fuming with De La Hoya's below-the-belt comments, didn't take too long to issue a savage reply of his own.
"Don't worry about Volkanovski you clown," White wrote.
"He has a team of very intelligent, sophisticated people behind him and he's clearly doing very well for himself. If he needs to buy an 8 ball then maybe he will reach out to you for some guidance. It's no secret you're a liar, drug addict, and all around scumbag. It doesn't matter that you 'laced up gloves' and there is no doubt you accomplished big things in boxing. But out of the ring you're an absolute f**king loser.
"When you were a one and done MMA promoter you lied about what Chuck (Liddell) and Tito (Ortiz) would make and you paid everyone s**t!! Not to mention you didn't even take the time to learn the names of your fighters on the card. So f**k off. Leave the fight promoting to me and do the whole world a favour and fight Vitor Belfort so we can all watch you go to sleep!!!"
The fight that White is referring to is the trilogy between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz which was promoted by De La Hoya's Golden Boy back in 2018.
With UFC legend Liddell well into his 40s, his good friend and former employer White publicly spoke out against the event and slammed its promoters for - well - promoting it.
It was here that perhaps the bitter feud between White and De La Hoya was born, but since then the two rivals have continued to exchange pleasantries at any given opportunity that presents itself.
