Weight Dispute Sees Jake Paul Vs Floyd Mayweather Fight Talks Stall

Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather's negotiations over a proposed boxing match have stalled due to a weight dispute.

The duo were reportedly holding talks over a potential bout, but those discussions have now broken down with YouTuber-turned boxer Paul accusing Mayweather of trying to make him cut too much weight.

I mean, we could probably see this coming from a mile away though, right?

With Jake Paul fighting at cruiserweight (200 pounds) and Mayweather spending the majority of his decorated career at lightweight (132 pounds), it's hardly a surprise to hear that a disagreement about weight is causing negotiations to break down.

"He's interested if I would drop a bunch of weight.," Paul told The Sun.

"He wants me to cut to a weight that I wouldn't actually be able to cut to. So I think he is sort of hiding behind that excuse.

"But you know Floyd, he's going to spend all of his money on strippers and Lamborghinis and s**t like that.

"Not pay his taxes and then around this time next year, he's going to be like, 'Who can I fight for $20million, $30million? Alright, maybe I'll fight Jake'.

"So when he runs out of money, I bet you the phones will start ringing."

Jake's older brother fought Mayweather in an exhibition bout back in 2021, although Logan has since claimed that he still hasn't been paid by Mayweather Promotions and boxing promoter Al Haymon.

Whether it's some sort of redemption for his brother or the prospect of an extortionate pay day, who knows, but Paul seems genuinely keen on taking on Mayweather.

"The difference is, my brother did that as part of Floyd's promotion," Paul said ahead of the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano fight, which he was a promoter for.

"Me, I would do it under Most Valuable Promotions, I'm in charge of the money. I'm in charge of the platform, so that's the way it works.

"I'd be the A-side too, what is Floyd bringing to the table?

"Yeah, he's got X,Y and Z's known in boxing, but you're washed up bro, sorry, I'm A-side.

"And especially because you don't have money, you're not bringing money to the table.

"So it's my rules, my decisions, my thoughts, my game plan, let's make the fight happen."

Interestingly, Mayweather hasn't appeared to be at the top of Paul's hit list in the past.

The former Disney kid has also reportedly been in talks with boxing royalty Mike Tyson over a potential bout.

Most recently, during his role in the Taylor-Serrano title fight, Paul was able to trade barbs with Eddie Hearn and threw down the gauntlet to his fellow promoter.

"I believe that I will beat anybody on your roster that's under ten fights. Anyone. Any one of your fighters that's had under ten fights, easy. Any weight... no, any weight. Literally any weight," Paul told Hearn.

"I will beat anybody on your roster. Let's run it up, no problem. Give me your best real boxer."
