Bodycam footage of Kyle Snyder's prostitution sting arrest released as Olympic champion breaks silence

Olympic gold medallist Kyle Snyder was arrested as part of a prostitution sting last week.

Bodycam footage of Kyle Snyder's prostitution arrest has been posted online after the Olympic gold medallist broke his silence on social media.

Last week, Snyder, the youngest ever athlete to win the the world, NCAA, and Olympic championships in the same year, was one of 16 men arrested and charged during a sting led by undercover police officers in the Police and Community Together (PACT) unit.

It's alleged that Snyder responded to a fake online escort advert that had been created by Columbus police and then a meeting was arranged through text messages and phone calls.

He proceeded to pay $160 cash to an undercover officer for an oral sex act in a hotel room - with the money collected as evidence.

Police were on the scene in swift fashion and in footage which was released by authorities, the three-time world champion, who was not initially wearing pants when they arrived, was immediately placed in handcuffs after officers burst into the room.

Escorted down the hallway and into another room, the 29-year-old was then asked a number of questions such as his occupation, to which he said, "I'm a wrestler for Team USA."

At one point, Snyder, married and with a son, asked what would happen if he was to plead guilty to charges and was informed that he would be required to attend a 'John school' - an education program which has the goal of stopping people from paying for sex.

On Tuesday, he made his first comment on his arrest - taking to X to issue a statement where he thanked people for support but made no apology.

"I want to thank everyone who has reached out with kindness and support," he wrote.

"My focus is on my relationship with the Lord Jesus and my family. This is not conclusion of my journey. 1 Peter 4:17-18."

Kyle Snyder wants to compete in Olympics in 2028

Snyder won Gold at the 2016 Olympics before claiming a silver in 2020 and finishing fourth in Paris last year.

A three-time NCAA heavyweight champion and Ohio State Athletics Hall of Famer, Snyder had spoken of his ambitions to compete again at the home Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.

He recently penned a contract to compete in the new Real American Freestyle league which WWE legends Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff are behind.
