Chelsea block Trevoh Chalobah departure amid AC Milan, Inter and RB Leipzig interest

Chelsea have blocked Trevoh Chalobah's departure this summer, with it previously thought he would leave on loan amid European interest.

Chelsea have blocked Trevoh Chalobah's departure this summer, with it previously thought he would leave on loan amid Inter, AC Milan and RB Leipzig links.

The defender enjoyed a breakout season last campaign, making 31 appearances in all competitions for his boyhood club.

Following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, it was thought that Chalobah would be handed a chance to become a key player for Thomas Tuchel's side this season.

However, the Blues have been searching for further central defensive reinforcements despite signing Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.

Marc Cucurella also arrived and possesses the ability to play on the left of the defence.

It was believed that the incoming of Wesley Fofana would play a vital role in Chalobah's future.

The Blues have reached a verbal agreement for Fofana after personal terms were already agreed regarding a six-year deal.

The 21-year-old was absent from Leicester's matchday squad to face Chelsea, with him now expected to become a Blue before the end of the transfer window.

It was thought that this arrival would grant Chalobah an exit, at least on loan.

However, it now appears that Chelsea have blocked this opportunity.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have informed Inter and AC Milan of the latest situation.

The management of the Blues have told the Italian giants that Chalobah is not allowed to leave the club this summer.

The defender was named in Chelsea's starting XI to face Leicester, with the Blues coming out 2-1 victors with 10 men.

This was later confirmed by Nathan Gissing, who stated that the decision was made early on last week, with RB Leipzig also interested in a loan move.

Furthermore, Luca Bendoni stated that Chalobah's camp informed Inter and AC Milan that the deal is no longer possible.

The Blues will rely on Chalobah this season, with Fofana also set to come in.
