Inside Chelsea's scouting mission as Blues watch Liga NOS clash when Porto faced Braga

Inside Chelsea's scouting mission as Blues watch Liga NOS clash when Porto faced Braga

Chelsea sent scouts to watch Porto's clash against Braga in the Liga NOS.

Chelsea sent scouts to watch Porto's clash against Braga in the Liga NOS, with the inside information on the mission being revealed.

The Blues were said to be one of seventeen sides to have members of staff watching the clash on Friday evening.

This comes as Todd Boehly continues his search for a sporting director at Chelsea.

The latest developments saw FC Salzburg director Christoph Freud reject an offer from the Blues.

Chelsea first attempted to bring former Liverpool man Michael Edwards to the club to take up the job, but he rejected a move in order to take a break from football.

Paul Mitchell from AS Monaco has also been linked.

It has since been revealed that Boehly is looking to hire both a sporting director and technical director.

Despite the lack of staff members in these roles, Chelsea are continuing their plans for future transfer windows.

Edson Alvarez is thought to be a priority target, while it was reported that RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku completed a medical in the summer ahead of a 2023 move.

And now it has been revealed that Chelsea are looking to the Liga NOS.

As reported by Portuguese outlet A Bola, Chelsea were in attendance at FC Porto against Braga.

The Blues are 'not a regular name on the list', as they sent somebody to watch Friday's match.

While it is unclear as to who the Blues could be watching, A Bola believe that it could be Porto's Mehdi Taremi.

Chelsea had reportedly made a bid for the striker in the summer to see if a deal would be possible.

Chelsea's interest in him is said to be longstanding, watching him last season despite being told a deal wasn't possible.

Chelsea weren’t interested in activating his €60 million release clause despite conversations with his agent.

The 30-year-old could make the move to London in the future, but with Boehly keen to acquire a Liga NOS club, the scouting mission remains unclear.
