Agents being met at Cobham training ground as Graham Potter's staff settle in at Chelsea

Agents being met at Cobham training ground as Graham Potter's staff settle in at Chelsea

The Blues recently hired Potter as their new head coach.

Chelsea’s new recruitment analyst Kyle Macaulay has already been meeting agents at their Cobham training ground as Graham Potter and the rest of his staff settle into life at the club, according to reports.

Potter was recently named as the new head coach at the Blues following the club’s dismissal of Thomas Tuchel earlier in the month.

Upon his departure from fellow Premier League side Brighton, the 47-year-old brought fellow staff members Billy Reid, Bjorn Hamberg, Bruno, Ben Roberts and Macaulay with him to west London.

Potter has taken charge of just one match so far during his time at Chelsea, with the Blues drawing 1-1 against FC Salzburg in the Champions League.

Their next match will take place on Saturday when they face Crystal Palace away from home in the Premier League.

Whilst they prepare for action on the pitch, it seems as though proceedings are already underway off it as the staff settle in at their new side.

According to the Evening Standard, recruitment analyst Macaulay has already been meeting with various agents at their Cobham training ground.

The Scotsman has worked with Potter since their time together at Ostersunds, following him to Swansea and Brighton before the move to Chelsea.

Even though the west London outfit spent the most money out of any Premier League side during the summer transfer window, it seems as though they are already preparing to spend more in the market in the coming months.

In January, the Blues could look to sign Edson Alvarez from Ajax to add another option to their midfield.

Potter’s side were linked with a move for the Mexican on Deadline Day, but a transfer from the Eredivisie to the Premier League did not take place.

Despite this, they see him as the priority for the midfield in future windows and therefore a move in January could take place.

Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is also a potential option, with the Ecuadorian playing under Potter at the south coast side.

Chelsea may already be looking towards next summer too, having started their attempts to enter the race for Jude Bellingham.

They will face competition for the 19-year-old’s signature from Liverpool and Real Madrid, who are both thought to be the current leading contenders for the midfielder.

Co-owner Todd Boehly is not thought to be discouraged by this though, and is set to make enquiries about the Borussia Dortmund star.

A transfer could cost them around £130 million, with Bellingham proving to be one of the most exciting talents in world football.

Chelsea are now set for a busy few months as they look to compete for more silverware and make preparations for further seasons.
