Chelsea & Graham Potter learn full fixture list until World Cup break after Man City date confirmed

Chelsea & Graham Potter learn full fixture list until World Cup break after Man City date confirmed

Chelsea now have their fixture calendar until the mid-season break.

Chelsea’s full fixture schedule before the mid-season break for the 2022 World Cup in November has been revealed after a date was set for their Carabao Cup third round tie against Manchester City.

Between now and the start of the World Cup, Chelsea will play 13 games, including matches in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup.

Graham Potter’s intense schedule will commence on October 1st against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, with the new Chelsea head coach under pressure to deliver results quickly after drawing his first game 1-1 in the Champions League to FC Salzburg.

The 47-year-old has seen two matches in the league - Fulham away and Liverpol at home - postponed due to the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. This gives him over two weeks to settle into life at Stamford Bridge following his first match before embarking on the trip to Crystal Palace.

It’s a tricky couple of months ahead for Chelsea domestically and in Europe, and that is added to by a cup tie away to Manchester City in November in the Carabao Cup.

The date for the clash was confirmed which will see Chelsea travel to the Premier League champions on Wednesday 9th November for an 8pm kick-off at the Etihad Stadium.

Potter is looking forward to continuing to get to know his players over the coming days and weeks knowing that they need to start delivering results.

"I've been very positive with the players, their response, attitude, intelligence,” admitted the Chelsea head coach after their 1-1 draw against FC Salzburg. “They are top players and are working hard for each other. There is a nice spirit in the group, but they are disappointed because results haven't gone as well as they'd like, which is normal, and you can feel that disappointment and frustration.

"But it's my job to help them get the results they want, that we all want. Today is not the best start in terms of points for us but in terms of how we acted on the pitch as a group, lots of positives."

Now their calendar has been confirmed, with just the Manchester United kick-off time to be confirmed following European participation.
