SmackDown women's champ Bayley has admitted that Lita was "like my hero growing up" and she would love to step into the ring with the WWE legend.
Lita, 44, shot to prominence with The Hardy Boyz during the 2000s and also became a trailblazer for the women's division with her successful singles run.
While the WWE Hall of Famer retired from wrestling in 2006, she has made sporadic appearances and even competed in the first-ever women's Royal Rumble match in 2018.
However, Bayley revealed that she shared a close relationship with WWE legend Trish Stratus, despite being such a hardcore Lita fan back in the day.
The 30-year-old WWE superstar told SPORTbible in an exclusive interview: "The first Royal Rumble match that we had, having all those women back there, I was like freaking out just, 'What's going on. How are they actually here?'
"But over the years I've become pretty cool with both Lita and Trish, but more so Trish, which is crazy because Lita was like my hero growing up. She was who I wanted to be.
"But for some reason I really clicked with Trish and it's been cool to learn from her and just kind of... there was a time when Sasha [Banks] was gone and Trish was there and that was like my go-to girl because she was the one I could vent to and rely on and things like that during that SummerSlam time.
"I hope one day I can be able to give back to the next generation and be there and be seen in the same light as I see them."
When SPORTbible asked Bayley if she wanted a match with Stratus, she said she would pass it up for Sasha Banks to compete in her dream match with the WWE Hall of Famer.
But the SmackDown women's champ, real name Pamela Martinez, insisted that she would prefer to compete against Lita in a dream showdown.
"I mean, I'm not begging for a match with her [Stratus]," Bayley said.
"I've teamed with her once before on Raw -- her and Lita -- and I know Sasha's dream match is to wrestle Trish Stratus, so if she came out of retirement for that match, I would be happy.
"But I would personally love to have a match against Lita."
Bayley also revealed that she wants Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams to perform her entrance at WrestleMania 36 in April.
