The WWE have made a decision with regards to their upcoming shows in Saudi Arabia amid tensions between the US and Iran.

The WWE event, Night of Champions, is currently set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on June 28, with the June 27 episode of SmackDown also set to take place at the Kingdom Arena the day before.

However, there have been calls to move the event due to recent tension between the US and Iran.

On June 22, President Donald Trump said the US had carried out a "successful" bombing attack on three nuclear sites in Iran, which marked a significant escalation in the war between Iran and Israel.

Iran has since promised to retaliate.

Abdolrahim Mousavi, the new chief of staff of Iranian armed forces, released a statement on Monday, which read: “The criminal US must know that in addition to punishing its illegitimate and aggressive offspring, the hands of Islam’s fighters within the armed forces have been freed to take any action against its interests and military, and we will never back down in this regard.”

American and British supporters have also been warned against travelling to the Middle East.

The U.S. Department of State say, “Do not travel to Iran for any reason. U.S. citizens in Iran face serious dangers.”

Meanwhile, the UK Government have also issued an urgent warning to all visitors to the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia following the recent escalation in tensions.

On Sunday (June 22), the Foreign Office issued a statement, which read: "Ongoing hostilities in the region and between Israel and Iran have the potential to deteriorate further, quickly and without warning, including since US military strikes against Iran on June 22.

"There is a possibility of travel disruption, including short-notice airspace closures, delayed and cancelled flights, and other unanticipated travel impacts."

So, what decision have the WWE made about their upcoming event?

According to the Mail, the promoters are still willing for the event to go ahead in Saudi Arabia later this week.

It is also reported by Fightful Select that preparations are ‘full steam ahead’ and workers are already putting infrastructure together at the site.
