WrestleMania plunged into chaos as huge WWE superstar 'suffers injury' hours before event

WrestleMania 41 will get underway at the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada on Saturday night (April 19).

WrestleMania 41 has been plunged into chaos as a WWE superstar has reportedly sustained an injury just hours before the event is set to start.

WrestleMania 41 will take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada and will run for two consecutive nights with match-ups such as Cody Rhodes vs John Cena and Gunther vs Jey Uso being the standouts of the event.

However, there are concerns another fan-favourite could miss out due to him appearing to suffer an injury during a match on SmackDown in Las Vegas on Friday evening.

Rey Mysterio and the LWO (Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix) went toe-to-toe against American Made (Chad Gable and the Creed Brothers) in a six-man tag match.

And footage emerged which appeared to show Rey Mysterio being treated by a doctor after he suffered a lower-body injury.

Mysterio was scheduled to take on Chad Gable - otherwise known as El Grande Americano - at night 1 of WrestleMania in what promised to be a largely entertaining match-up.

The extent of Rey’s injury is still unclear, but Forbes reports that he could be replaced by one of his LWO teammates.

Fans were quick to give their thoughts on social media.

One said: "If Rey is hurt, I wonder if they’ll scrap the segment or give El Grande Americano a different opponent."

Another added: "They set up El Grande vs Rey Fenix in the battle royal, so can only assume this injury Rey Mysterio has was before the show so they deliberately planted a Rey Fenix storyline."

A third claimed: "This is so heartbreaking. Rey vs Americano was one of the matches I was looking forward to most. Praying for King Mysterio."

As a fourth commented: "Doesn't look good for Rey Mysterio. Does his match get pulled from Wrestlemania? Will he still be able to compete?"

Rey Mysterio will, no doubt, be hoping he can still compete this evening having previously told FOX how he wants to unmask El Grande Americano.

"One thousand percent," he said. "There’s no doubt in my mind that I’m going to do everything I can to take that mask off who that El Grande Americano is."
