The WWE were forced to abandon all plans and go completely off script after star wrestler Seth Rollins suffered a freak injury.

During the Saturday Night Main Event WWE show, fav-favourite wrestler Rollins faced off against LA Knight inside the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

In a card that featured names like Randy Orton and Logan Paul, the clash between Rollins and Knight was one of the most highly anticipated of the evening.

Following Rollins' victory in the Money in the Bank match last month, there has been growing animosity between the pair that was finally due to be settled in the ring.

However, shortly after the two entered the ring on Saturday night, things took a turn for the worst, as Rollins suffered a brutal injury in the middle of the match, forcing the WWE to completely change their plans.

Early in the match, as Knight was down in the centre of the ring, Rollins decided to launch into a backflip off the ropes with the idea of landing on his opponent.

But things didn't go to plan as, when Knight rolled out of the way while Rolling landed awkwardly on his right knee, causing him to immediately collapsing and retreating to the corner near promoter Paul Heyman.

Knight, who appeared to be unaware of the reality of the situation, approached his rival to continue the match, only for Rollins to put his hand up and ask the referee to hold his opponent back.

Bravely, Rollins managed to return to his feet to finish the match quickly, as Knight hit him with a BFT to secure the pin and win the match.

However, in the wake of the shocking match, it has since been revealed that this was not at all what the WWE had planned, and Rollins injury, which was completely legit, forced them to make major changes.

According to a report from Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer, the last 40 minutes of the show had to be suddenly changed as a result of the injury as something that was supposed to happen as a surprise later was no longer possible.

It is believed that Rollins was initially set to win the match, but his injury meant that he was no longer able to carry out the planned finish, meaning WWE bosses decided to give the win to Knight instead.

Although it remains unclear just how serious Rollins' injury is, he was later seen being assisted to the back by medical staff, causing serious worries about his future and the implications it could have on the Money in the Bank case.
