Roman Reigns revealed why he'll be having chemotherapy until he dies after previous retirement from WWE

The wrestler has been battling with leukaemia since 2007.

Wrestler Roman Reigns will be competing at Wrestlemania in the WWE as he continues to fight his personal health battle he will likely face for the rest of his life.

Reigns will face CM Punk and Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat Match this weekend on Saturday's Main Card at WrestleMania 41, which is taking place at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.

And on Sunday's Main Card, Cody Rhodes takes on John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship, in what will be Cena's final WrestleMania match owing to his retirement from professional wrestling at the end of this year.

Reigns' current WWE contract expires after WrestleMania 42 next year, which is being held next April at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

And Reigns has cast doubt over his long-term WWE future, as he believes his wrestling career only has a couple more years left on its clock before he looks towards another form of entertainment less physically taxing.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, he said: "After I finish the contract that I’m in, we probably got another year or two max.

"Then it’s time to take on a less physical form of entertainment."

But regardless of what path his career takes in the future, Reigns will be battling and managing an illness for the rest of his life.

Reigns was first diagnosed with leukaemia in 2007 when he was a budding American footballer.

His illness returned in 2018 which meant he spent time away from wrestling and he returned to the ring in February 2019 when his leukaemia went into remission.

The type of leukaemia Reigns lives with is incurable but is treatable and so he will be on medication to control it for the rest of his life, but that it does not affect his ability to perform in the wrestling ring.

Speaking last year at the press conference ahead of WrestleMania XL, Reigns said: "I'm still on oral chemotherapy, it’s a medication that I’m going to have to remain on my entire life most likely.

"It’s just a part of my personal battle. It doesn’t affect me, thank God, I’m still able to perform. I think anybody in my position would say health is wealth. "As long as I continue to perform, you already know that’s at bay. We’re good. We’re still in remission. It is something that is still part of my life."
