WWE legend Hulk Hogan 'dies aged 71 after suffering cardiac arrest'

He first joined the WWE in 1983.

WWE legend Hulk Hogan has died at the age of 71 his family have confirmed.

Hogan, was reportedly found dead in his Clearwater, Florida, home on Thursday morning.

According to TMZ, first responders arrived on the scene following a 911 call reporting a cardiac arrest.

Paramedics and police were reportedly parked outside Hogan's Florida home on Thursday morning.

TMZ reported that the wrestling icon was wheeled out of his home on a stretcher and into an ambulance.

Following the news, the WWE released the following statement: "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away.

"One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s.

"WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans."

Hogan's long-time rival Ric Flair has also spoken out via X.

He posted: "I am absolutely shocked to hear about the passing of my close friend @HulkHogan! Hulk has been by my side since we started in the wrestling business.

"An incredible athlete, talent, friend, and father! Our friendship has meant the world to me. He was always there for me even when I didn’t ask for him to be. He was one of the first to visit me when I was in the hospital with A 2% chance of living, and he prayed by my bedside.

"Hulk also lent me money when Reid was sick. Hulkster, no one will ever compare to you! Rest In Peace My Friend."

The 71-year-old was reportedly recovering from major operation on his heart just months before his death according to US Weekly.

Hogan was involved in the WWE since 1983, and became the face of the company in the 80s and early 90s before leaving to pursue acting in 1993, but often made cameo appearances.

The official cause of his death is yet to be officially confirmed.
