WWE star Dominik Mysterio: 'Rhea Ripley could go for Roman Reigns if she wants'

Dominik Mysterio believes his 'Mami' Rhea Ripley could take on Roman Reigns and tips her to win a men's singles title in WWE.

WWE star Dominik Mysterio has tipped his 'Mami' Rhea Ripley to challenge for one of the men's singles titles and believes she could conquer unstoppable WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Ripley won the women's Royal Rumble match last month and will challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women's Championship at WrestleMania at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The Aussie powerhouse made history in winning the match from the No.1 spot, lasting 1 hour, 1 minute and 8 seconds before eliminating second entrant Liv Morgan.

Ripley will be desperate to avenge a previous defeat to Charlotte without any fans in attendance during the COVID-19 pandemic at WrestleMania 36

She has the chance to become a grand slam champion in WWE, having won the rest of the gold available.

But Mysterio, who has Ripley as his protector in the Judgment Day faction, feels 'The Nightmare' has the capacity to be in the mix for the men's titles and follow in the footsteps of late WWE Hall of Famer Chyna, the only woman to have held the Intercontinental Championship.

“Look at what she’s done," he told SPORTbible.

"She body slammed Luke Gallows for crying out loud. That’s a big man. And she picked him up like it was nothing and she just slammed him.

“So I think anything is possible for her you know, I think she could go for Roman if she wants. But I think it'd be really cool to see her hold some of the men's gold, whether it's singles or if we do a tag team match somehow where it's mixed matched, and then it's just whether it's her and [Damian] Priest or me and Priest or however we want to play it out.

“But we just got to get some gold on her”.

In a few months WWE returns to the United Kingdom, with the historic Money in the Bank event emanating from London's O2 Arena on July 1.

It will be the first WWE premium live event in London for more than two decades and Dominik is gunning to win the ladder match and secure a contract for a title shot at any time and place of his choosing.

He explained: “I’m pumped. I’m excited to be able to go back to London and hopefully win the Money in the Bank briefcase.

“I’ll definitely be at Smackdown because, I'm going to give you Paul Heyman here - a spoiler - that Rhea Ripley will be walking out of WrestleMania as SmackDown Women's Champion, so I can almost guarantee you that the Judgement Day will be at Smackdown the day before.

“Hopefully we lock things down on Friday and the Judgement Day will handle business at Money in the Bank on Saturday.”

The 25-year-old's last venture to these shores saw him controversially attack his father Rey Mysterio and Edge at the Clash of the Castle in front of a record 62,000 astonished fans at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in September.

Dominik aligned himself with the Judgement Day in one of the most shocking moments of the year. His antics were met with deafening boos but he lapped it up.

“I wasn't prepared for any kind of reaction; I didn't really know what to expect going into it. I was hoping to get booed because I turned my back on two of the biggest names in the company.

“One being my dad, and the other being uncle Edge, who I've grown up with in this business - someone that's helped me, and he was there by my side on my first match with crowd with the live crowd on Smackdown in July 2021 when live crowds first came back after the pandemic.

“So the fact that I turned my back on both of them and decided to go a different way. And the reaction that I got, where 'm literally getting booed out of Cardiff, you know, it was actually pretty cool.

“A lot of people might say that, ‘Oh, man, you did this’ but I enjoyed it. And I felt that was the first time I was doing something for me.”

Tickets for SmackDown on Friday 30th June and Money In The Bank on Saturday 1st July at The O2, London, are available via Ticketmaster. Watch both live in the UK on BT Sport.
