Jerry Lawler suffered a stroke at his home and is currently recovering after undergoing surgery.

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler has reportedly been hospitalised in Florida after suffering a ‘serious medical episode’.

The legendary wrestler has had a couple of health scares in recent times, suffering a heart attack while live on TV for Monday Night Raw in 2012, and a stroke in 2018.

Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer has been tweeting out updates on Lawler’s condition.

He wrote: “Lawler is awake, but his situation is very serious.”

He more recently tweeted: “It looked really bad two or three hours ago. More recent news is better but it's a very serious situation.”

Prayers for ‘The King’s’ health came flowing in from the wrestling community.

Veteran wrestler Ricky Morton tweeted: “I hope my friend is going to okay. Love you, Jerry.”

Ric Flair tweeted: “We are praying for you, Jerry Lawler!”

Matt Hardy wrote: “Thinking about you and wishing you all the best, Jerry Lawler!”

AEW wrestler Miro, formerly Rusev in WWE, said: “Kick out strong Jerry Lawler.”

Dustin Rhodes tweeted: “Prayers for Jerry Lawler.”

Lawler was a legend of the Memphis wrestling scene in the 1970s and 80s, and has been in the wrestling industry for over 50 years.

He wrestled for the WWE (WWF) in the 1990s before he joined on as a colour commentator.

He is perhaps best known for his commentary partnership with Jim Ross throughout the Attitude Era.

The Memphis native was a regular commentator on WWE television until 2012 when he suffered a heart attack during an episode of Raw.

Doctors said that Lawler was clinically dead for almost 30 minutes before he was saved.

He returned to good health and appeared as a commentator on WWE in period appearances.

He has continued to wrestle on the independent scene well into his 70s.

His most recent match came against Scott Steiner in March 2022.
