How AEW will honour Pac as police reveal new details surrounding his tragic death

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Benjamin Satterley died in Des Plaines, Illinois at the age of 40.

Satterley, who performed under the ring name Pac, was found dead in his rental car outside a CAVA restaurant on the day after an AEW show in Chicago.

The Englishman's cause of death is not yet known, but details of the emergency response have emerged and the circumstances are not believed to be suspicious.

AEW chief Tony Khan announces Pac tribute

Speaking to fans before Monday's Ring of Honor recording, AEW owner Tony Khan announced that this week's edition of AEW Dynamite will be a tribute show for Pac.

After a 10-bell salute, Khan said: "It's important for us to take a moment and talk about somebody that has accomplished so much in life as a wrestler, as a friend. Somebody who I think would have been successful at any walk of life that they set their mind to. And he set his mind to being one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and I believe he succeeded in that."

Wednesday's Dynamite will take place in Pittsburgh, where Pac and future stablemate Jon Moxley wrestled in the main event of the city's first Dynamite broadcast in October 2019.

The match went to a time limit draw before Moxley took his frustration out on the referee.

"Benjamin Satterley defined excellence, as a beloved husband and friend to his many loved ones, and in his wrestling knowledge, skill, unprecedented athleticism, professionalism, consistency and dedication to the sport that he loved and travelled the world to pursue," Khan said in a statement on Sunday. "May Ben rest in peace."

'No indications of foul play' in Pac death

Satterley, who had also wrestled as Neville in the WWE, was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and had performed all over the world. He signed with AEW in 2019 after a six-year WWE stint.

Pac enjoyed multiple title wins in a successful AEW run, including a reign as the first All-Atlantic champion after winning the belt in Chicago in 2022. He was also a two-time World Trios champ, a WWE Cruiserweight champion, and had held several belts during his time on the international wrestling circuit.

His death was announced by AEW on Sunday and details of the emergency services audio have been reported by the New York Post.

The audio reveals that the emergency response, which included police, fire and paramedics, arrived at the CAVA parking lot expecting to find 'a slumper' in a car.

According to the Des Plaines Police Department in a statement given to the Post, there are “no indications of foul play and the circumstances surrounding the death are not considered suspicious.”
