"You're a f**king nobody": What Lisandro Martinez told Ajax technical director before Man United move

The defender was desperate for his transfer to Old Trafford.

Lisandro Martinez had some very choice words for Ajax's technical director Gerry Hamstra before he completed his move to Manchester United.

The Argentine centre-back was desperate for a move to Old Trafford in the summer and even began to skip Ajax training in order to push a move through.

That is a similar approach that teammate Antony took, who will be joining the defender at the Theatre of Dreams following a €100 million move.

Ajax were not afraid to reject very hefty bids for their players, but that ended up being a bad move in this instance.

It was revealed by Mike Verweig of the Telegraaf that Lisandro Martinez and Hamstra had an altercation before he left.

The defender was attempting to push through his move to reunite with Erik ten Hag.

Hamstra moved into the technical director role at the Eredivisie club just months before the opened window.

Marc Overmars left his role as Director of Football at Ajax in February.

The Dutchman had sent a "series of inappropriate messages to several female colleagues", according to a statement made by the club.

When speaking to Hamstra, the new man in charge, Martinez was less than pleased that his prospective move was being blocked.

He told Hamstra that he is 'f***king nobody' in the exchange.

The defender also mentioned that he is in his role only because of the forced departure of Overmars months earlier.

The report mentions that Martinez secured his move just days after this conversation.

Martinez has been one of United's standout players at the beginning of this campaign.

He has been nominated for the club's Player of the Month award, alongside Raphael Varane and Tyrell Malacia.

Despite differing pundits doubting his ability in the air, Martinez has better statistics aerially than many top Premier League centre-backs.

He will be looking to continue his solid form going into the next game against Leicester City on Thursday.
